Day - 1 : Guwahati - Dimapur
Early in the morning head towards Dimapur making a journey of about 7hrs from Guwahati. Or Arrival at Dimapur Airport / Dimapur Railway Station. Night Stay in Dimapur.
Day - 2 : Dimapur - Khonoma
Next Day early in the morning move towards Khonoma Village. The picturesque village of Khonoma lays 20kms away from the capital city of Kohima. What greets the eye is the natural setting of the village that is simply amazing with golden terraced fields encrusted by verdant hill slopes. But it is the thick forest, teaming with birds which Khonoma has a unique position in Nagaland. It holds the distinction of being the only village in Nagaland where logging and hunting are banned. Spend the full day walking around this beautiful village, interacting with the locals to acquaint ourselves with the history & culture of the Angami tribe. Alnong the way spend time with some master basket and shawl weavers, admiring their skilful work. Overnight at homestays in Khonoma.
Day - 3 : Khonoma - Kohima
Morning after Breakfast, again visit the Khonoma village which was surrounded by lush greenery, forestland, and a variety of flora and fauna. It was very peaceful to stay in Khonoma village. Later on move back to Kohima and Stay the night in Kohima.
Day - 4 : Dzukou Valley Trek ( Optional )
Early in the morning start Kohima to Zakhama Check Post. From the Check Post, start walking along the stream. On the trek, there has a government run water tap and you could replenish your water bottles on that point. This point is also known as the Crying Child Valley. Continue walking on the trek reach the Dzukou Valley, which offers breathtaking panoramic view into the Valley. (Optional) One can also stay there in the Dzukou Trekkers’ Hut. This is just a hut with vast concrete floor and a few wooden platforms that serve as beds. One can lay sleeping bags there in the night. You have also the option of sleeping in a dormitory or take a private room with beds.
Day - 5 : Explore Dzukou Valley ( Optional )
Spending overnight in Camp at the Trekkers’ Hut, morning explore the wide and beautiful valley (recommended). Ahead of the Trekkers’ Hut, you can do a 15 minutes’ walk to the Ghost Caves or ‘Bhoot Gufa’, as they are called locally. Remember to carry a torch as the cave extends to almost 1 km. You would also consider the option to descend from the hut, to the bottom of the vast caldera of the valley. You can explore the vast stretch of grasslands and rolling meadows, blossomed with flowers in the monsoon months. After that move back to Zakhama Check Post and return to Kohima. Overnight at Kohima.
Day - 6 : Kohima Sightseeing
Morning drive to visit some popular sights like Kohima War Cemetary, the State Museum, which would be a great place to learn about the culture of 16 Naga Tribes, the Naga heritage village also known as Kisama Village located on the slopes of a hill between Kigwema and Phesama Village in the kohima district. The Kisama Village is the venue of the Hornbill Festival that held annually. If time permits visit the Kohima market, one of the most interesting one of its kind in the North East. Overnight at Kohima.
Day - 7 : Kohima - Dimapur Airport / Guwahati
Morning after breakfast, move to Dimapur Railway Station / Dimapur Airport for departure. Or Move back to Guwahati for onwards Journey.
